Civil Protection Units intervention results between January 31 and February 1, 2026 (within the last 24 hours)

Between January 31 and February 1, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,221 interventions (an average of one intervention every 26 seconds), including 1,784 medical evacuations and 1,126 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, weather-related incidents, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 115 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 4 fatalities at the scene and 134 injuries of varying severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Bouira province: 2 people died in a collision between a semi-trailer truck and a car on National Route 18, in the municipality of Ain El Alloui, Ain Bessam district.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 29 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across the provinces of Constantine (8 people), Medea (5 people), Bordj Bou Arreridj (4 people), Oran (3 people), Algiers (3 people), Jijel (2 people), Batna (2 people), Naama (1 person), and El Bayadh (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and transported in stable condition to local health facilities.
For your information, the Civil Protection intervened to extinguish four separate urban fires in the provinces of Tamanrasset, Sidi Bel Abbès, Blida, and Batna. These fires resulted in one death and one second-degree burn injury in Tamanrasset province, following a fire in a ground-floor house located in the Sour neighborhood of Tamanrasset municipality and district. Additionally, two people sustained burn injuries in Sidi Bel Abbès province, following a fire in a ground-floor house located on Rue Lenoir Tayeb in Tessala municipality and district. The victims received first aid at the scene and were then transferred to local hospitals.
Regarding the Civil Protection interventions related to the severe weather conditions from the start of the weather bulletin concerning strong winds on January 27, 2026, until February 1, 2026, which affected 41 provinces across the country, our services recorded 963 interventions involving fallen trees, walls and roofs, and electrical poles and cables in the following provinces: Algiers, Oran, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Boumerdès, Saïda, Tipaza, Blida, Béjaïa, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Aïn Témouchent, Sidi Bel Abbès, Médéa, Relizane, Biskra, Skikda, Annaba, Jijel, Mila, El Tarf, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Chlef, Naâma, Constantine, Mostaganem, Tlemcen, Batna, Aïn Defla, Tébessa, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Laghouat, El Oued, Mascara, Touggourt, Ouargla, Khenchela, Ghardaïa, and Ouled Djellal. 580 trees, 216 falling poles and electrical cables, 139 partial collapses of external walls, building roofs or cracks in walls, 28 falling objects. In the same context, the recorded toll of victims includes the death of a child in the state of Oran and the injury of 29 other people with various injuries in the state of Algiers 07 people, Jijel 04 people, Chlef 03 people, Oran 03 people, Mostaganem (02) people, Souk Ahras (02) people, Skikda (02) people, Blida 01 person, Guelma 01 person, M’Sila 01 person, Biskra 01 person, Ouled Djellal 01 person and Boumerdes 01 person. The victims were taken care of at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals.
