Civil protection medical convoys launched for the benefit of the high plateau and southern provinces

Medical Caravans for the Benefit of the High Plateaus and Southern Provinces

As part of its annual program and in its commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services, the General Directorate of Civil Protection is organizing mobile medical caravans for residents of remote and isolated areas, particularly in the southern and high plateau provinces, with the aim of bringing healthcare services closer to citizens.

The medical caravans will be organized from December 21 to 25, 2025, and will cover 21 provinces in the southern and high plateau regions:

Beni Abbes, Ouargla, Ouled Djellal, Adrar, Illizi, Djelfa, El Oued, El Bayadh, Bechar, El M’Ghair, Laghouat, Ghardaia, Naâma, Timimoun, Touggourt, Djanet, El Menia, In Salah, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tamanrasset, and In Guezzam.

These provinces are: In coordination with the provincial authorities, the Directorates of Health and Population, and the Directorates of Social Action and Solidarity,

The official launch of the medical convoys from the province of Djanet was overseen by the Governor of Djanet, in the presence of Inspector Colonel Achour Farouk, Deputy Director of Emergency Medical Services Colonel Ben Abdel Salam Mohand Amar, and the Director of Civil Protection for the province of Djanet.

The launch of the medical convoy from the province of Djelfa was also overseen by the Governor of Djelfa, accompanied by the Director of Human Resources, Colonel Ouglis Toufik, and in the presence of officials from the General Directorate and the Director of Civil Protection for the province of Djelfa.

The services provided include:
Medical examinations and consultations
Provision of medications and prescriptions
Referral of patients to specialized hospitals when necessary
Provision of health advice and guidance for the prevention of various risks and diseases

The Civil Protection has allocated significant human and material resources to this operation, including 84 medical officers specializing in emergency medicine, as well as ambulances, four-wheel drive vehicles, medications, and awareness materials. Over the past years, civil protection teams have provided more than 80,000 medical examinations and issued over 73,000 referrals for specialized consultations.

This initiative is an extension of the “First Aider for Every Family” program, launched in 2010, which aims to promote a culture of first aid and risk prevention. As of December 2025, nearly 190,000 volunteer first aiders had been trained.
