Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 18 and 19, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

  During the period from April 18 to 19, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,058 interventions (an average of one intervention every 28 seconds), including 1,906 medical evacuations and 416 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 157 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 6 fatalities at the scene and 174 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Ain Temouchent, where 1 person died and 2 others were injured when a car veered off the road and overturned on National Route 2, in the municipality and district of El Malah.

Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to 9 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. Six of these individuals were in the province of Oum El Bouaghi, and three were in the province of Mostaganem. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported in stable condition to hospitals.

For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish 4 urban and various fires in the provinces of Annaba, Mila, Chlef and Tiaret. In Tiaret province: 1 fire resulted in 7 people suffering from shortness of breath in the municipality of Melakou. In Annaba province: 1 fire resulted in 1 person suffering from shortness of breath and 6 others in a state of shock in the municipality of Sidi Amar. In Mila province: 1 fire resulted in 1 person suffering from shortness of breath and 2 others in a state of shock in the municipality of Mila. In Chlef province: 1 fire resulted in 1 person suffering from shortness of breath and 2 others in a state of shock in the municipality of Ouled Ben Abdelkader. Our services’ intervention enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to other neighboring areas.
