Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 22 and 23, 2026 (within the last 24 hours)

  

During the period from April 22nd to 23rd, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,689 interventions, averaging one intervention every 23 seconds. These included 2,773 medical evacuations and 525 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 179 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 4 people at the scene and injuries to 191 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Oran and Boumerdès. These fires resulted in the death of two children and injuries to nine others who suffered respiratory distress. The first fire broke out in an apartment on the first floor of a five-story building (ground floor + five floors) located in the Lasierra 2500 housing complex, in the municipality and district of Oued Tlelat, Oran province. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local health centers.

Civil Protection divers from the provinces of Ain Defla and Skikda intervened to recover the bodies of three people who drowned. In Ain Defla province: the first incident involved the drowning of a 14-year-old boy in the Ouled Mellouk Dam, in the municipality of Zeddine, Rouina district; the second incident involved the drowning of a 32-year-old man in a pond in the area known as Ouled Sidi Kaddour, in the municipality and district of Djellida. In Skikda province: the drowning of a 13-year-old boy in a pond in the area known as Diar Zitoun, in the municipality and district of Azzaba. The bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals.

Likewise, the Civil Protection elements of the Medea province intervened to recover 05 deceased people, who were found inside the wastewater pumping station in the center of the municipality of Bougzoul, Chehbounia district. The victims’ bodies were transferred to the Ksar El Boukhari hospital. 05 teams were deployed for the intervention, including 02 ambulances, 02 rescue trucks and 01 lighting vehicle.
