Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 23 and 25, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)

  

Between April 23 and 25, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 6,240 interventions (an average of one intervention every 27 seconds), including 4,206 medical evacuations and 889 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 383 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 11 fatalities at the scene and 559 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Tamanrasset province, where 3 people died and 3 others were injured when a car veered off the road and overturned on National Route 55, in the municipality and district of Abalessa.

It should be noted that Civil Protection units also intervened to extinguish 5 urban and other fires in the provinces of Boumerdès (1 fire), M’Sila (2 fires), Annaba (1 fire), and El Tarf (1 fire). No casualties were reported in these incidents. Our emergency services successfully extinguished the fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Civil Protection divers also intervened to recover 5 bodies from various water reservoirs in the provinces of Setif, Tiaret, and Khenchela. In Setif province, there were two cases: the first involved the recovery of a 14-year-old boy from a water reservoir located in the village of Delaga, Ain Lagradj municipality, Beni Ourtilane district; the second involved the recovery of a 12-year-old boy from an irrigation reservoir located in the area known as Lamzara Bir El Oued, Qajjal municipality and district. In Tiaret province, there were two cases: the first involved the recovery of a 16-year-old boy from a water reservoir located in the area known as Mazraat Haider, Ain Qasma village, Tiaret municipality and district; the second involved the recovery of a 12-year-old boy from a water reservoir located in the Zaaroura neighborhood, Tiaret municipality and district. Khenchela: The body of a 34-year-old man was recovered from a water basin in the area known as Tayzirt, in the municipality of Khirane, in the district of Chechar. The body was transferred to the morgue at the local health center.

Civil Protection units in the province of Setif also intervened following the collapse of the roof of a house in the area known as El Mezgoua, in the municipality of Mezloug, in the district of Ain Arnat. Four people were injured and received first aid at the scene before being transferred to the local hospital.

Regarding interventions related to rainfall, the Civil Protection agents of the state of Bordj Bou Arreridj intervened to evacuate 29 people and remove 18 cars at the place called El Mashraa in the municipality of Medjana, who were trapped in the mud. Also, at the level of the state of Naama, a car that was trapped in the mud on National Road No. 06 at the place called the Bird Sanctuary, in the municipality of Naama, was removed. Several operations were carried out to absorb rainwater that had accumulated on the streets and neighborhoods in the municipality of Souaghi in the state of Medea, and in the municipality of El Ayoun in the state of Tissemsilt, and also at the level of the municipalities of Madna and Ksar Chellala in the state of Tiaret.
