Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 25 and 26, 2026 (within the last 24 hours)

During the period from April 25 to 26, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,856 interventions, averaging one intervention every 30 seconds. These included 1,761 medical evacuations and 424 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 195 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in one fatality at the scene and injuries to 259 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
Civil Protection units in Algiers intervened to extinguish a fire that broke out in an apartment on the fourth floor of a six-story building (ground floor + 6 floors) located in the 540-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Bir Touta. The fire resulted in four people suffering from respiratory distress. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to the local hospital. The rapid intervention of our services enabled them to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the building.
Civil Protection services in Djanet also intervened to recover the body of a 34-year-old man who drowned in a pool of water in the Adsi area of Bordj El Haouas municipality. The victim’s body was transferred to the local polyclinic.
Regarding the Civil Protection interventions related to the weather fluctuations over the past 24 hours, resulting from rainfall affecting several provinces including: Ain Temouchent, El Bayadh, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Medea, Setif, and Tlemcen, our services carried out 34 operations to pump out rainwater that had seeped into homes, neighborhoods, and roads in the provinces of Setif (Bougaa, Ain Abassa, and Ain Oulmane), Ain Temouchent (Chentouf and Hammam Bouhadjar), Tlemcen (Ben Sekrane), El Bayadh (El Bayadh), and Bordj Bou Arreridj (Sidi M’barek, Bir Kasd Ali, and Ain Taghrout). Additionally, a car with two occupants was freed from a stranded vehicle on Provincial Road 59 in the municipality of El Hassasna, Ain Temouchent. A truck and a motorcycle were also freed from floodwaters on National Road 6. Furthermore, we recorded the collapse of an external retaining wall and the partial collapse of a building’s roof. In the municipality of El Bayadh, without any human casualties being recorded.
