Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 26 and 27, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

During the period from April 26 to 27, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,495 interventions, averaging one intervention every 24 seconds. These included 2,644 medical evacuations and 511 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 178 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 5 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 191 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish five separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers (one fire), Batna (one fire), Oum El Bouaghi (one fire), Biskra (one fire), and Saida (one fire). These fires resulted in three people sustaining third-degree burns in a fire that broke out in an apartment on the first floor of a five-story building in the municipality and district of Oum El Bouaghi. Additionally, one person suffered third-degree burns in a fire that broke out in a tin shack in the area known as “Zio Farm” in the municipality of Ouled Khaled, Sidi Boubekeur district, Saida province. Furthermore, three people suffered from shortness of breath in a fire that broke out in an apartment on the first floor of a four-story building in the 100-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Zeribet El Oued, Biskra province. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals. The rapid intervention of our emergency services enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread. Civil Protection divers from the Medea province also intervened to recover the body of a 14-year-old boy who drowned in a pool of water in the area known as Gelta Ed-Deb, Wadi Yaqour, in the municipality and district of Sidi Naamane. The victim’s body was transferred to the local polyclinic.

Regarding the results of the Civil Protection interventions related to the rainfall during the last 24 hours, which affected several provinces, including: Constantine, Setif, Mila, Djelfa and Saida, our services carried out several operations to absorb rainwater that had seeped into homes, neighborhoods and also across roads, while (02) children trapped in a valley in the place called Al-Rabahia, the municipality of Ouled Khaled in the province of Saida were rescued in good condition, as well as removing a car trapped due to the rising water level of Wadi Al-Malaqa, the municipality of Messaad in the province of Djelfa, and our services also intervened to rescue 36 sheep from a stable flooded by rainwater in the place called Mchta Al-Samara, the municipality of Telaghma in the province of Mila.
