Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 5 and 6, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

Between April 5th and 6th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,911 interventions (an average of one intervention every 29 seconds), including 2,229 medical evacuations and 353 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, security operations, and weather-related incidents.
From April 5th to 6th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units responded to calls for assistance, averaging one intervention every 29 seconds. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 191 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 5 fatalities at the scene and 227 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of In Guezzam, where 2 people died and 7 others were injured in a collision between two vehicles in the area known as El Hadj Bouya, in the municipality and district of In Guezzam.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to eight people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning caused by faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. These incidents were recorded in Constantine (4 people), Medea (3 people), and M’Sila (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals in stable condition. Meanwhile, a 73-year-old woman died in Tlemcen province after being poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO) from a water heater in her home in the area known as Es-Sbayda, in the municipality of Bouihi, Sidi Djilali district. Her body was transferred to the hospital in Sebdou.
Civil Protection units also intervened to extinguish four urban and other fires in the provinces of Batna, Relizane, Tiaret, and Ouled Djellal. No casualties were reported. Our intervention enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
