Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 29 and April 4, 2026 (weekly results)

Between March 29 and April 4, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 22,892 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 13,165 interventions, during which 12,844 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,290 incidents involving 1,261 traffic accidents, resulting in 38 deaths and 1,529 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Laghouat province, with 6 deaths at the scene and 28 injuries in 17 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 941 interventions, extinguishing 572 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (99 fires), Annaba (59 fires), and Blida (37 fires).
In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 6,496 interventions across various operations, rescuing 494 people in danger and providing 5,748 emergency medical services.
Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 58 interventions during the same period, allowing for the provision of first aid to 163 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO), who were then transferred to hospitals, with the death of 5 people poisoned by carbon monoxide in the provinces of Setif (3 people), Algiers (1 person) and Skikda (1 person).
