Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 1 and 2, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

  During the period from August 1st to 2nd, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,603 interventions, averaging one intervention every 19 seconds. These included 2,164 medical evacuations and 526 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 230 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in two (2) fatalities at the scene and injuries to 324 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 1,258 interventions, which allowed for the rescue of 833 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 356 people on site, in addition to transferring 65 people to local health centers. Four people drowned in the sea: two in Oran Province, one in Jijel Province, and one in Ain Temouchent Province. In Oran Province: the first case involved a 33-year-old man who drowned at the beach called “Al-Manzar Al-Jamil” (swimming is permitted outside of lifeguard hours), in the municipality and district of Ain El Turk. The second case involved a 17-year-old teenager who drowned at a rocky beach (swimming is prohibited), in the municipality of Marsa El Hadjadj, district of Bethioua. In Jijel Province: the case involved a 9-year-old child. A man drowned in the sea off the rocky area of ​​Laouana beach (a prohibited swimming area), in the municipality and district of Jijel, Ain Temouchent province. The deceased was a 31-year-old man. His body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

In Tiaret province, a 17-year-old boy drowned in a pool of water in the area known as “Sidi Ouadah,” in the municipality of Melakou, district of Medroussa. His body was also transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

During the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 47 vegetation fires, including: 9 forest fires, 3 brush fires, 3 scrubland fires, 4 crop fires, 11 fruit tree fires, and 13 fires in agricultural belts. Hay and 04 palm fires, across several states of the national territory, thanks to the rapid and effective intervention of our services, which allowed these fires to be extinguished and prevented from spreading to the rest of the vegetation.
