Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 2 and 3, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

   Between August 2nd and 3rd, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,407 interventions, averaging one intervention every 19 seconds. These included 2,214 medical evacuations and 621 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 244 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 8 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 296 others, ranging in severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, Civil Protection officers in Algiers intervened to extinguish a fire that broke out in an apartment on the seventh floor of a residential building in the Qaidi neighborhood of Bordj El Kiffan municipality, Dar El Beida district. The fire resulted in one woman suffering from shortness of breath. She received on-site medical attention. Our emergency services successfully contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to neighboring buildings.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 895 interventions, rescuing 611 people from drowning and providing first aid to 229 people on-site. Additionally, 55 people were transferred to local health centers. One child, aged 6, drowned at sea off the beach known as “Rock of the Broken,” in the municipality and district of Boumerdès. The body was transferred to the morgue at the local hospital.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Crops Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 69 vegetation fires, including: 8 forest fires, 1 bush fire, 15 scrub fires, 4 agricultural crop fires, 20 fruit tree fires, 15 hay bale fires, and 6 palm tree fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
