Civil Protection Units intervention results between December 4 and 6, 2025 (during the last 48 hours)
Between December 4th and 6th, 2025 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 5,878 interventions (an average of one intervention every 29 seconds), including 3,699 medical evacuations and 959 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 287 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 9 people at the scene and injuries to 380 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The heaviest toll was recorded in the province of Batna, with 2 deaths and 1 injury following a collision between a car and a truck on National Road 28 in the municipality and district of Ain Touta. Also in the province of Setif, 2 people died in 2 separate traffic accidents. The first accident occurred on National Road 5 in the municipality and district of Setif, and the second on National Road 28 in the municipality of Boutaleb, district of Salah Bey.
Civil Protection units intervened to provide first aid to 33 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning caused by heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces nationwide. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals in stable condition. No fatalities were reported.
In a separate incident, Civil Protection personnel in Sidi Bel Abbès province responded to a butane gas cylinder explosion in a house located in the 50-unit housing complex in the municipality of Telmouni, in the district of Mostefa Ben Brahim. The explosion resulted in burns to four people and injuries to one other person. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported to the local hospital.
Regarding the severe weather affecting several provinces across the country, including Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Bejaia, Mila, Annaba, Skikda, and El Tarf, numerous operations were carried out to pump out accumulated rainwater from streets and residential areas, as well as to rescue people trapped by rising water levels.
Tizi Ouzou Province: Three people were rescued from the Sebaou River in the area known as Timizar Laghbar, due to rising water levels. This occurred in the municipality and district of Tizi Ouzou.
Bouira Province: A bus carrying 47 passengers was pulled from the road in the Tikjda area of El Asnam municipality. Civil Protection personnel assisted the passengers.
Mila Province: A partial collapse of a house wall on Mohamed Saleh Dehili Street in El Kseur municipality occurred. No casualties were reported.
Skikda Province: A collapse of a wall separating a building from an abandoned warehouse occurred in Skikda municipality and district. No casualties were reported.
Bejaia, Annaba and El Tarf provinces: Several operations were carried out to absorb rainwater that had accumulated in the streets, residential neighborhoods, and public and private institutions, in the municipalities of Bejaia and El Ksar, in Bejaia province, in the municipality of Berrahal in Annaba province, and also in the municipality of Lake of Birds in El Tarf province.
