Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 26 and 28, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)

Between February 26 and 28, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 5,327 interventions (an average of one intervention every 32 seconds), including 3,591 medical evacuations and 799 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 315 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 16 deaths at the scene and injuries to 367 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The heaviest toll was recorded in the province of Souk Ahras: 3 deaths and 8 injuries in two separate traffic accidents. The first accident, involving a car veering off the road and overturning on the Ain Djemaa road in the municipality and district of Taoura, resulted in 2 deaths and 4 injuries. The second accident, involving a car veering off the road and falling down a slope on National Route 16 in the municipality and district of El Mechrouha, resulted in 1 death and 4 injuries. Additionally, in the province of Djanet, 3 people died in a car veering off the road and overturning in the area known as In Aflahlah in the municipality of Bordj El Haouas, district of Djanet. Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to four people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in the provinces of Naâma (2 people), Mostaganem (1 person), and M’Sila (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred in stable condition to local health centers. One death was recorded in the province of Bordj Bou Arreridj, a 34-year-old man, due to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from a water heater in his home in the village of Lahchachna, Thénia El Nasr municipality, Medjana district. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at Medjana Hospital.
For your information, the Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish 03 urban and different fires in the provinces of Tizi Ouzou, Adrar and El Tarf, where these fires caused 03 people to suffer from shortness of breath in the province of Adrar, following a fire that broke out inside an apartment on the third floor of a building consisting of (T.A+5) located in the 140 housing complex, Adrar municipality and district. The victims were treated at the scene and transferred to the local hospital. Our rescue intervention enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to other neighboring places.
