Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 28 and March 1, 2026 (within the last 24 hours)

   

Between February 28 and March 1, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,415 interventions (an average of one intervention every 35 seconds), including 1,598 medical evacuations and 311 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, weather-related incidents, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 164 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 5 fatalities at the scene and 211 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local health centers. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Béchar, where 2 people died and 1 was injured in a collision between two trucks on National Route 6, within the municipality and district of Béchar.

Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to 4 individuals suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Two of these individuals were affected in the province of Naâma, and one in the province of Saïda. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported in stable condition to local health centers.


For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers, Blida, and Tiaret. These fires resulted in 18 people suffering from respiratory distress after a fire broke out involving two motorcycles at the entrance of a building in the 150-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Frenda, Tiaret province. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital. Our services’ intervention enabled us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.

Similarly, Civil Protection services in Tizi Ouzou province intervened following a gas explosion and subsequent fire in the kitchen of a house located in the village of Chrea, in the municipality of Tadmait, Draa Ben Khedda district. Two people sustained second-degree burns. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital.
