Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 7 and 8, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

    Between July 7th and 8th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,839 interventions (an average of one intervention every 22 seconds), including 1,994 medical evacuations and 605 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 221 interventions following numerous accidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 4 people at the scene and injuries to 272 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Mostaganem, where 2 people died in a collision between a car and a motorcycle on National Route 11, in the municipality and district of Sidi Lakhdar.

For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers, El Tarf, and Tlemcen. These fires resulted in three people sustaining third-degree burns. The first fire broke out in the kitchen of a residence located in the village of Takida, in the municipality and district of Bouhadjar, El Tarf province. First aid was administered at the scene, and the injured were then transferred to the local hospital. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires. Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 721 interventions, rescuing 504 people from imminent drowning and providing first aid to 194 people on site. Additionally, 22 people were transferred to local health centers. One young man, aged 18, drowned at Sidi El Adjal beach (a beach where swimming is prohibited), in the municipality of Khadra, Achaacha district, Mostaganem province. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Crops Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 82 fires of vegetation cover, including: 4 forest fires, (2) bush fires, 17 scrubland fires, 32 agricultural crop fires, 10 fruit tree fires, 15 hay bale fires and (2) palm fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation cover.
