Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 17 and 18, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

     During the period from June 17 to 18, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,437 interventions, averaging one intervention every 25 seconds. These included 1,957 medical evacuations and 646 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 173 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 5 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 216 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Algiers and Ouargla. These fires resulted in seven people suffering from respiratory distress following a fire that broke out in an apartment on the ninth floor of a building (floor + 9 floors) in the Sidi Abdallah neighborhood, Maalma municipality, Zeralda district, Algiers province. Additionally, one person sustained first-degree burns and another suffered shock following a fire in a first-floor residence of a building (floor + 1 floor) in the Nasr neighborhood, Ouargla municipality and district. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local health centers. Our emergency services successfully contained both fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 232 interventions, rescuing 156 people from drowning and providing first aid to 70 people on site. Additionally, 6 people were transferred to local health centers. One man, aged 30, drowned at the beach known as “Maarouf” (a beach where swimming is prohibited) in the municipality of Messirda, Marsa Ben M’hidi district, Tlemcen province. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at Maghnia Hospital.

Similarly, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 41 vegetation fires, including: 1 brush fire, 2 dry grass fires, 20 crop fires, 10 hay bale fires, and 8 palm tree fires, across several provinces nationwide. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.

Regarding our intervention in the thunderstorms that hit the states of Medea, Tiaret, Setif and Batna, our services carried out several operations to absorb rainwater that had seeped into homes in the municipality of Ain Kermes in the state of Tiaret, the municipality of Tella in the state of Setif and the municipality of Batna, in addition to rescuing a family of 5 people trapped by the waters of the valley in the municipality of Hammam Sokhna in the state of Setif, as well as removing 250 head of livestock and 42 beehive boxes that were flooded by rainwater in a water pool in the place called: Al-Daya, the municipality of Ain Dahab in the state of Tiaret.
