Notice regarding prevention of heatwave dangers

         In view of the expected rise in temperatures at the end of the week, which will affect the central and eastern coastal states of the country, as well as the states of Relizane, Ain Defla and Chlef on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20, 2026, the General Directorate of Civil Protection recommends exercising caution and following preventive measures to avoid dangers related to the heat wave and how to deal with Such weather conditions, and in this context, the General Directorate of Civil Protection calls for adherence to the following preventive measures:

  • Avoid exposure to sunlight, especially for the elderly, those with chronic diseases, and children.
  • Avoid going out and moving around during this period, except in cases of necessity, you should go out early in the morning or late in the evening, and stay in the shade as much as possible.
  • Create an air current throughout the building once the outside temperature is lower than the inside temperature.
  • Close windows, curtains and balcony facades that are exposed to sunlight all day long.
  • Turn off electric lights or reduce their use.
  • If you have to go out, you should wear a hat, light clothing (cotton) and, moreover, preferably light in color. Take shelter in cold places or in the shade.
  • Do not leave children alone inside a car.
  • Avoid work that requires physical effort (sports, gardening, other crafts…).
  • Give elderly people, children and patients to drink water regularly and not wait until they become thirsty.
  • For motorists whose car does not have air conditioning, it is recommended to avoid traveling long distances during times of high heat. It is best to program it late in the evening when temperatures drop or at night.
  • Avoid swimming in water bodies (dam, ponds, basins…), and do not hesitate to go to beaches where swimming is prohibited.
  • Those wishing to go to forest areas must avoid doing anything that causes forest fires to break out.

  The General Directorate of Civil Protection also places the green number 1021 or emergency number 14 at the disposal of citizens to report any danger, specifying the nature of the danger and the exact address for quick and effective intervention.
