Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 15 and March 16, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from March 15 to 16, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,526 interventions (an average of one intervention every 34 seconds), including 1,686 medical evacuations and 427 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, weather-related incidents, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 196 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 3 fatalities at the scene and 215 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents occurred in the province of In Salah: 1 death and 2 injuries following a car veering off the road and overturning in the Kasbah neighborhood, in the municipality of Foggaret Ezzaouia, In Salah district. In the province of Annaba: 1 death and 1 injury following a collision between a car and a bus on the road known as “Ain Dalia,” in the municipality of Oued El Aneb, Chetaibi district. In the province of Djelfa: 1 death following a collision between a car and a motorcycle at the entrance to the municipality of Deldoul, in the district of Messaad.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to seven people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in the provinces of Relizane (3 people), Bordj Bou Arreridj (2 people), Constantine (1 person), and Chlef (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local hospitals.

Regarding the interventions of the Civil Protection services related to the weather fluctuations of rain and snowfall during the last 24 hours, which affected various provinces of the country, such as Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Setif, Mila, Tebessa, Bordj Bou Arreridj and Bejaia, in the province of Bouira: a car that was stuck on National Road No. 30 due to snow accumulation, with 4 people on board, was freed in the place called Tizi N’Koulan in the municipality of Saharidj, as well as rescuing 40 sheep due to the rising Wadi El Awashria in the municipality of Bordj Okhriss. In the province of Tizi Ouzou: 5 cars and 2 trucks that were stuck on Provincial Road No. 9 due to snow accumulation in the place called Fadj Chlata, in the municipality of Illoula Amellou. In the province of Setif: 3 cars and 2 trucks with 10 people on board were freed from the road linking Douar Lablahda and Timedouine in the municipality of El Babour due to snow accumulation, as well as freeing 2 Two cars with 6 people on board were stuck on the road linking the municipalities of Beni Chebana and Beni Ourthilane due to snow accumulation in the municipality of Beni Ourthilane, Tebessa Province: A car with (2) people on board was removed from the provincial road No. 8 linking the municipalities of Tebessa and El Ma El Abiod due to snow accumulation in the municipality of Tebessa, Bordj Bou Arreridj Province: (2) cars with 7 people on board were removed from the provincial road No. 43 due to snow accumulation in the municipality of El Jaafra. In addition, our services intervened with 5 operations to pump rainwater in various neighborhoods and houses in the provinces of Bouira and Bejaia.
