Weekly toll of civil protection units intervention between March 8 and 14, 2026 (weekly toll)

Between March 8th and 14th, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 20,788 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 12,583 interventions, during which 12,104 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 2,369 interventions for 1,333 traffic accidents, resulting in 40 deaths and 1,565 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in Setif province, with 4 deaths at the scene and 91 injuries in 82 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 753 interventions, extinguishing 488 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (91 fires), Blida (22 fires), and Oran (21 fires).
In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 5,083 interventions across various operations, rescuing 430 people in danger and providing 4,449 emergency medical services.
Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (Co) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 17 interventions during the same period, which allowed for the provision of first aid to 36 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (Co), who were then transferred to hospitals, without any deaths being recorded.
