Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 17 and 18, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from March 17 to 18, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,368 interventions, averaging one intervention every 36 seconds. These included 1,660 medical evacuations and 339 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 163 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces. No fatalities were recorded at the scene of these accidents, but 197 people sustained injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 10 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in the provinces of El Bayadh (3 people), Medea (3 people), Ain Temouchent (2 people), and Naama (2 people). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local health centers.
Furthermore, Civil Protection services in Ain Temouchent intervened following a fire in the basement of a four-story building (T+4) in the Beni Khaled neighborhood. The fire resulted in nine people suffering from respiratory distress. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to the local hospital. Civil Protection services successfully extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the building.
