Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 3 and 9, 2026 (weekly results)

  

    Between May 3rd and 9th, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 25,273 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 14,767 interventions, during which 14,377 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 2,376 interventions for 1,329 traffic accidents, resulting in 30 deaths and 1,593 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in Tiaret province, with 4 deaths at the scene and 50 injuries in 22 traffic accidents.

Civil Protection units also carried out 937 interventions, extinguishing 547 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (53 fires), Oran (38 fires), and Blida (25 fires).

In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 7,193 interventions across various operations, rescuing 543 people in danger and providing 5,997 emergency medical services.

Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 7 interventions during the same period, allowing first aid to be provided to 10 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO), who were then transferred to hospital facilities, with the death of 1 person poisoned by carbon monoxide in the state of Bejaia.
