Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 31 and June 1, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

Between May 31 and June 1, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,074 interventions, averaging one intervention every 28 seconds. These included 2,034 medical evacuations and 477 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 231 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 6 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 261 others, ranging in severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish two separate urban fires in the provinces of Ain Defla and El Oued. These fires resulted in seven people suffering from shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. The first fire broke out inside an electrical meter box at the entrance of a building in the El Mergab neighborhood, Ain Defla municipality and district. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital. The rapid intervention of our emergency services enabled them to control these two fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
In addition to the intervention of the Civil Protection divers of the state of Algiers to recover a 26-year-old man who drowned in the sea, in the place called the western beach, Sidi Fredj, Staoueli municipality, Zeralda district, and also in the state of El Tarf, the Civil Protection intervened to recover a 14-year-old child who drowned on the beach in the place called Fertassa, El Chatt municipality, Ben M’hidi district. The bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgues of the local hospitals.
