Civil Protection Units intervention results between October 8 and 10, 2026 (within the last 48 hours)

Between October 8 and October 10, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 5,873 interventions—averaging one intervention every 29 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 390 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 15 fatalities at the scene and left 446 others with injuries of varying severity. Victims received on-site care and were transported by our teams to local hospitals. The highest casualty tolls were recorded in the provinces of Batna and Bouira: in Batna, four people died and three others were injured following a collision between two vehicles on National Road No. 77 at a location known as “Al-Sakhrat” (Ksar Belzma Municipality, Merouana District); in Bouira, three people died following a collision between two motorcycles at a location known as “Madinat Al-Hayat” (Lakhdaria Municipality and District). Civil Protection units also intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Jijel and Béjaïa. One of these incidents—a fire in a second-floor apartment of a four-story building (ground floor plus three upper floors) in the Boumehran neighborhood of El Milia (municipality and district of El Milia, Jijel province)—resulted in one fatality and one person suffering from shock; the victim’s body was transferred to the local hospital’s morgue.

Additionally, during the same period, forest and crop firefighting teams intervened to extinguish nine vegetation fires across various provinces. These included fires involving fruit trees (2), hay bales (4), and palm trees (3). The rapid and effective response by our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.

Regarding the heavy rainfall experienced in the provinces of Tlemcen and Souk Ahras, our units intervened in Tlemcen province to pump out rainwater that had seeped into 19 homes across the Bouanani Hocine, Dahou Boumediene, and Boumadan Mohamed neighborhoods in the municipality of Sebdou.
