                    Field Exercise in Major Disaster Management, Bouira 2025

As part of the implementation of the General Directorate of Civil Protection’s operational activity plan for 2025, the General Directorate of Civil Protection is organizing a field exercise in the management of major disasters (high-intensity earthquake) in the Bouira province, from November 8 to 12, 2025. The exercise, entitled “Developing the Capacities of Rescue Teams for International Intervention,” will see the participation of the following teams:

. The HUSAR (Heavy Urban Search and Rescue) team, specializing in heavy urban search and rescue interventions, based in the Algiers province and currently undergoing certification according to the standards of the United Nations’ INSARAG organization;

. Four MUSAR (Medium Urban Search and Rescue) teams from the provinces of Blida, Bouira, Medea, and Boumerdes, currently undergoing certification;

. An air unit, medical support teams, logistics teams, and operational communications teams. The planned simulation scenario involves a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in a foreign country, affecting several cities and requiring international support.

This exercise aims to assess the pre-alert state of the aforementioned units, test their readiness, and place their personnel in a realistic field environment, focusing on organization (camp setup, food self-sufficiency, logistics, and adaptation to INSARAG operational techniques and standards acquired during specialized training courses).

It also aims to evaluate the response time of the deployed operational resources, standardize operational intervention techniques, assess operational coordination when activating national and international management models, and measure the effectiveness of the new digital management and coordination platforms.

This important event will be overseen by the Director General, Colonel Boualem Boughelouf, and the Director General of Civil Protection of the Czech Republic, General Vladimir Vlíček, in the presence of the Governor of Bouira Province and local authorities. This event is an opportunity to highlight the progress made by the General Directorate of Civil Protection in disaster management, particularly in training, enhancing team efficiency, and acquiring effective operational equipment.

This activity stems from the support and commitment of public authorities to the ongoing development of the Civil Protection’s response capabilities.

Furthermore, the exercise is led and technically supervised by senior officers from the General Directorate, specializing in disaster management, ensuring high-quality execution and professional performance.
