Results of intervention by Civil Protection units between December 23 and 24, 2025 (during the last 24 hours)
During the period from December 23 to 24, 2025 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,895 interventions (an average of one intervention every 29 seconds), including 1,852 medical evacuations and 508 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 170 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 6 fatalities at the scene and 179 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Batna province, where 2 people died and 1 was injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle on National Route 87, in the municipality of Oued El Taga, Thniet El Abed district.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 22 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals in stable condition. Tragically, one person, a 23-year-old, died in Sidi Bel Abbès province from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a car exhaust in a garage on Ibn Badis Street, in the municipality of Sidi Ibrahim, Ain El Berd district. The victim’s body was taken to the local hospital.
Civil Protection units also intervened to extinguish four urban and other fires in the provinces of Algiers (2), Chlef (1), and Bordj Bou Arreridj (1). No casualties were reported. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Civil Protection services in Algiers intervened following the partial collapse of the floor of a commercial space on the ground floor of a six-story building (ground floor + 6 floors) on Taleb Abderrahmane Street, Bab El Oued municipality and district. The collapse resulted in minor injuries to one person, who received on-site treatment before being transported by our services to the local hospital.
Regarding the weather fluctuations witnessed in various states of the country during the last 24 hours due to rainfall in the states of Oran, Ain Temouchent, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, M’Sila and Batna, the Civil Protection units of the state of Oran removed 03 cars from National Road No. 02 that were stuck due to the accumulation of rainwater in the municipality of Boutlélis, and also in the state of Ain Temouchent, they removed a car from National Road No. 02 that was stuck due to the accumulation of rainwater in the municipality of El Amria, as well as several operations to pump rainwater in the states of Oran, Ain Temouchent, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, without recording losses.
