Weekly toll of civil protection units intervention between December 14 and 20, 2025 (weekly toll)

 

Between December 14 and 20, 2025, Civil Protection units recorded 25,569 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 15,592 interventions, during which 15,256 injured and ill individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,314 incidents involving 1,282 traffic accidents, resulting in 48 deaths and 1,483 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Laghouat province, with 6 deaths at the scene and 20 injuries in 14 traffic accidents.

Civil Protection units also carried out 951 interventions, extinguishing 556 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (56 fires), Blida (49 fires), and Oran (35 fires).

Furthermore, during the same period, our units carried out 6,712 interventions across various operations, rescuing 498 people in danger and providing 5,635 emergency medical services.

Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 41 interventions during the same period, providing first aid to 83 people poisoned by this dangerous gas who were transferred to hospitals, with the death of 8 people poisoned by carbon monoxide in the provinces of Setif (2 people), Ghardaia (2 people), Tizi Ouzou (1 person), Mila (1 person), Guelma (1 person) and Tebessa (1 person).
