The outcome of the Civil Protection Units’ intervention between July 25 and 26, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

   During the period from July 25 to 26, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 5,243 interventions (an average of one intervention every 16 seconds), including 2,287 medical evacuations and 568 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 220 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in one fatality at the scene and injuries to 257 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, the Civil Protection intervened to extinguish eight urban and other fires in the following provinces: Algiers (2 fires), Blida (1 fire), Touggourt (1 fire), Relizane (1 fire), Boumerdès (1 fire), M’Sila (1 fire), and Bordj Bou Arreridj (1 fire). These fires resulted in three people suffering from respiratory distress and five others experiencing shock in Algiers. In Blida, three people sustained first-degree burns, while three others suffered various burns in Touggourt. Four people experienced respiratory distress in Relizane, and two people sustained various injuries in Bordj Bou Arreridj. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to local hospitals. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 1,736 interventions, which allowed for the rescue of 1,349 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 331 people on site, in addition to transferring 53 people to local health centers. Four drowning deaths were recorded in the following areas: Algiers Province: 1, a 40-year-old man at Palm Beach (Red Flag), Staoueli Municipality, Zeralda District; Mostaganem Province: 1, a 15-year-old teenager at Sablettes East Beach (Red Flag), Mazagran Municipality, Hassi Mamache District; Tipaza Province: 1, a 16-year-old teenager at Hamdania 2 Beach (Red Flag), Cherchell Municipality and District; Ain Temouchent Province: 1, a 38-year-old man at Rachgoun 1 Beach (rocky area – swimming prohibited), Ain Temouchent Municipality and District In Beni Saf, the victims’ bodies were transported to local hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

During the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 80 vegetation fires, including: 29 forest fires, 8 scrubland and brush fires, 7 dry grass fires, 10 agricultural crop fires, 7 fruit tree fires, 13 hay bale fires, and 6 palm tree fires, across several provinces nationwide. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
