Weekly report on the intervention of the Civil Protection units between December 28, 2025 and January 3, 2026 (Weekly Report)
Between December 28, 2025, and January 3, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 22,698 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 14,161 interventions, during which 13,763 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 2,073 interventions for 1,191 traffic accidents, resulting in 34 deaths and 1,464 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the province of M’Sila, with 4 deaths at the scene and 52 injuries in 36 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 802 interventions, extinguishing 469 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in the province of Algiers (52 fires), and 22 fires each in the provinces of Blida and Tipaza.
In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 5,662 interventions in various operations, rescuing 591 people in danger and providing 4,887 emergency medical services.
Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 71 interventions during the same period, providing first aid to 133 people poisoned by this dangerous gas who were transferred to hospitals. 18 deaths were recorded due to carbon monoxide poisoning in the following provinces: Constantine (4 people), Tebessa (2 people), Djelfa (2 people), Algiers (1 person), Oran (1 person), Setif (1 person), Skikda (1 person), Jijel (1 person), Tipaza (1 person), Mila (1 person), Laghouat (1 person), Tiaret (1 person), and Bechar (1 person).
