Weekly report on the intervention of the Civil Protection units between January 25 and 31, 2026 (Weekly Report)

Between January 25 and 31, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 28,769 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 16,422 interventions, during which 16,183 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 1,692 interventions for 938 traffic accidents, resulting in 32 deaths and 1,056 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the province of Bordj Bou Arreridj, with 4 deaths at the scene and 45 injuries in 28 traffic accidents.

Civil Protection units also carried out 1,062 interventions, extinguishing 618 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in the provinces of Algiers (92 fires), Annaba (44 fires), and Oran (40 fires).

In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 9,593 interventions across various operations, rescuing 592 people in danger and providing 7,666 emergency medical services.

Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 57 interventions during the same period, providing first aid to 124 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO) and then transferring them to hospitals, with the death of 9 people poisoned by carbon monoxide in the provinces of Algiers (2) people, Setif (2) people, Djelfa (2) people, El Bayadh (1) person, Khenchela (1) person and Mila (1) person.
