Weekly toll of civil protection units intervention between February 8 and 14, 2026 (weekly toll)

 

    

Between February 8th and 14th, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 28,909 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 17,273 interventions, during which 17,164 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 2,169 interventions for 1,195 traffic accidents, resulting in 38 deaths and 1,448 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in Tebessa province, with 5 deaths at the scene and 22 injuries following 18 traffic accidents.

Civil Protection units also carried out 896 interventions, extinguishing 541 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (81 fires), Blida (39 fires), and Annaba (23 fires).

During the same period, our units carried out 8,571 interventions across various operations, rescuing 672 people in danger and providing 7,417 emergency medical services.

Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 34 interventions during the same period, which allowed for the provision of first aid to 80 people poisoned by this dangerous gas, who were transferred to hospital institutions, with the death of 4 people poisoned by carbon monoxide gas recorded in the province of Boumerdès (2) two people, Algiers (1) person and Bouira (1) person.
